Spreading the Tentacles

Spreading the Tentacles
Artwork by Shepard Fairey (from the new Biafra CD)

For three decades, Alternative Tentacles has been middle-fingering the thieves, hypocrites, warmongers, and lapdogs in government, religion, the media, mainstream music, and corporate America. The indie label is still run by original Dead Kennedys visionary Jello Biafra, who now fronts the Guantanamo School of Medicine, a slam-banging vehicle for his never-say-die punk politics. Biafra's singular brand of vitriol remains fun, more absurdist comedy than tedious punditry. His record company also makes a home for such must-see fringe bands as Victims Family and Alice Donut, both of whom appear with GSM in the label's action-packed 30th anniversary "Incest-a-Thon" this Thursday, Nov. 5, through Saturday, Nov. 7, at Great American Music Hall. — Sam Prestianni

Tonight's "Incest-a-Thon" installment features performances by Jello Biafra & the Guantanamo School of Medicine, A.T. acid-punk legends Alice Donut, the no-less-fucked Victims Family, and rejuvenated '80s deathrockers Burning Image. — John Graham
